Product Description
Attracts & Traps Squash Vine Borers!
The mature Squash Vine Borer (Melittia cucurbitae) is a stout dark gray moth with 'hairy' red-orange hind legs, opaque front wings, and clear hind wings with dark veins. Squash Vine Borer Moths are often mistaken for bees or wasps due to their movement around plants during the daytime and colorful markings. Plants are affected when their offspring develop and begin to feed inside stalks which harms foliage, eventually migrating to the main stem where massive damage is incurred.
Squash Vine Borer Moths overwinter as a full grown larva or a pupa one to two inches below the soil surface, these larvae develop and pupate in the early months of spring. Mature moths begin to emerge as plants break ground and will continue flight through mid-August in most regions.
Mature Squash Vine Borer moths lay small brown eggs individually on leaf stalks and vines, which hatch in seven to 10 days. The newly hatched white-cream colored larvae will immediately bore into stems and restart the cycle of plant damage. These larvae will feed for 14 to 30 days before exiting the stem to pupate in the soil, pupa are dark brown, shiny and have tapered ends.
VivaGrow Squash Vine Borer traps include a pheromone to naturally lure mature moths to a sticky surface where they cannot escape, keeping them from being able to produce larvae which feed on and damage plants. 100% safe for pets, non toxic.

Moth catcher
Borer moths are aggressive and they are getting into states where they did not used to be found. These will catch the moths before they do too much damage if you time the deployment correctly for your location and plants.

WOW
Each trap was filled with moths in 2 days/nights! We could not believe how many moths were present. The lures last a lot longer so we are replacing the cardboard/glue diamond trap part (ask VivaGrow about additional diamond traps they helped set us up). It is really kind of gross how well the moths were caught, we just had no idea there were this many. Hopefully we can reduce the population and have better veggies this fall.

Amazing!!
We cannot believe how many borers we caught in a week. We did not know how much of a problem we have! Now our neighbors are buying these traps too. All our gardens are looking much better with less pest damage than previous years. It was getting so bad that we could not eat much of what we had grown over the season. So happy that we have a solution now! Traps last many weeks so you will probably not need many to last the whole season. The lures are sealed individually so you can wait to put the second trap out.

Vine Borers hate this one trick
I guess whatever is in these traps is more exciting than vines for the borers. No damage last year in our garden.

Very Effective Trap
These are very effective. I never realized how many moths we were getting

Effective
Proving effective for pest control in our fall garden. We grow pumpkins and squash in the southwest US. Currently we are using one trap at a time because our garden is small at around 150 square feet (15x10' area). Hoping we have more edible veggies this year.
